Volunteers Needed for the 10/18 Middle School State XC Meet

Hi Cross Country and Track Families,

The Middle School Cross Country State Meet will be held next Saturday, 10/18 at Londonderry High School.   This is a very large state middle school cross country event, and we need your help in order for it to be a success. This is our 2nd largest fundraiser for the LHS XC and Track Club.   Approximately 3,000 runners are expected to be at this meet.

All LHS XC runners are required to work the meet with their LHS XC coaches.  The LHS athletes will give course walk throughs, work the chute, and work various other jobs to help the middle school runners and help the coaches ensure the meet runs smoothly.

We need help from XC and Track Parent Volunteers in 4 areas:

·         Bus Parkers (8am-10am)

o   Volunteers will tell the buses transporting the middle school athletes where to park (instructions will be given the day of the meet)

·         Field Marshalls (11:15am-4:30pm – lunch will be provided since this is a long shift)

o   Volunteers will work crowd control, keep spectators off the course, etc.   The Dads usually like this job.

·         Concession Stand near the football field – 2 shifts available (10am-1pm1pm-4pm)

o   Volunteers will work in the football field concession stand

·         Spandex Tent Sales tent near the concession stand – 2 shifts available (9am-12:30pm,12:30pm-4pm)

o   Volunteers will sell spandex headbands, shorts and tights

Please consider helping us out.  The money we raise from this fundraiser goes directly towards the funds we use to support our XC and Track athletes.   The funds help pay for end of the season banquets and parties, t-shirts, equipment, team tents, travel, assistant coach stipends, and other various needs highlighted by the XC and Track coaches.

This event counts towards volunteer points for senior scholarships.

If you have any questions or issues with the spreadsheet, please contact Karen Wasserman (Track Club VP) at wasserman4@comcast.net or 247-0531.

Thank you in advance for your support or our XC and Track athletes and programs at LHS!
